There is no relgious test for president.

No person except a natural born citizen, or a citizen of the United States, at the time of the adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the office of President; neither shall any person be eligible to that office who shall not have attained to the age of thirty five years, and been fourteen Years a resident within the United States.

Unites States Constitution: Article II
That is the only requirement stated in the Constitution. So why this? Confirmed:Barack Obama Practiced Islam Who is behind these emails, articles and blogs that say Obama is Muslim not Christian and speaks of his mother's beliefs. They also imply that Barack Obama is a sleeper agent for Al Queda? More fear mongering!

Hathor,

I've been looking over your blog a bit and I wanted to make a few comments.

It is obvious that your personal experiences help to formulate many of your posts. Yet you do this without going into a rant. Passion is a good thing, but most people can not access this emotion without sounding like a raving lunatic. I say well done on the balance of emotion and logic.

I read a lot of blog posts without commenting. Whenever I leave a comment, I feel that I need to check back for a response and possible follow up. I read a LOT of blogs, so I have to be selective when I post. I think a lot of others do the same. So don't mistake a lack of comments for a lack of interest in your blog.

My comments on some of your previous posts:

The American dynasty - I will be surprised if Chelsea Clinton does not run for office eventually.

The 16th Street Baptist church - Can you imagine if the Black Panther's had bombed a white church during this same time period? Do you think these two events would have been treated the same then or viewed the same today in an historical perspective?

The New Red Scare - Americans have always been a bit delusional. For crying out loud, the foundation of this country was to declare freedom to be a universal truth while we held women and blacks as slaves!

On The Second Amendment - All I can say is please take the guns away from the criminals before you take mine. My belief that I need to own a gun for protection is based upon personal experience.

Driver's license for illegal immigrants - It is the responsibility of the Federal government to ensure that there are no illegal immigrants in this country. If they are unable or unwilling to do so, then the individual states should be able to do whatever is necessary to ensure safety and order within their borders.

What is required (Nov 2006) - People don't vote because they feel most of the politicians are liars. They could become a candidate their self, but they use the excuse of "an ordinary guy like me could never win." And that is the point where they show what the real problem is. The only fight they will engage in is one where they feel they are guaranteed a victory. They can't be expected to fight to just help change the tide, and perhaps make it easier for the next person that follows their trail to become victorious.

We have politicians that will say and do anything to get elected. And we have them because most of our citizens want to have everything their way, refusing to listen to reasonable ideas from others or to engage in sensible compromise. We have lying politicians because so many citizens don't want to hear the truth, so much as they just want to hear someone agree with them.

So, in answer to your question, If the only thing necessary for evil to flourish is for good people to do nothing, then I suppose countering this evil would actually require that we do something. But that's an awful lot to ask. After all, my favorite TV show is about to come on now. Let's see, should I help save the republic or just watch Seinfeld? Boy, it sure is rough being an American!

Thanks for the comments.

I had written some follow up comments, but I lost them because my connection gets slow. I can't recover them in my mind.

phil marx,
I will try again.

If during the bombing of the 16th Street Baptist Church four white girls had been killed, some black person would have been executed. If it would have been a Panther, their name would be trotted out after Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton's for the crimes and misdemeanors of being black.

If one would just vote. Vote for the person you want, write in or write in your self. All those who are eligible to vote, would vote their conscience, there would never be a mandate. Would the political system change if someone won with seventeen percent of the vote. The pundits would have a lot to talk about and I am sure if some candidate proclaimed a mandate, it would cause laughter. I could be wrong.

Passion is a good thing, but most people can not access this emotion without sounding like a raving lunatic. I say well done on the balance of emotion and logic.

I appreciate this. Thanks again.
