After the tragic death of Benazir Bhutto, her party had no qualms in granting her son and her husband power.

NAUDERO, Pakistan (Reuters) - The 19-year-old son of assassinated Pakistani opposition leader Benazir Bhutto, Bilawal, was on Sunday appointed chairman of her Pakistan People's Party (PPP) along with his father, party officials said.

"It has been decided that Bilawal will be the chairman and Mr (Asif Ali) Zardari will be co-chairman," one of the party officials said in the southern town of Naudero, where top officials of Bhutto's party were meeting.

Some years back it was apparent that her power had come from being the daughter of Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, which had founded the Pakistan People's Party. This post is not in any way trying to diminish her role in the party, but there had been some that had put their hopes in her being able to help create a democracy in Pakistan. I do not know the beliefs of her party, but I believe that creating leadership from family descendants is not too compatible with democracy.

I also feel this way about the existence of George H W. Bush and George W. Bush, and the fact that Senator Clinton is running for president. Family members in the past have been elected president; John and John Quincey Adams, Theodore and Franklin Roosevelt, both 24 years apart. It didn't seem then to disrupt our government, but it wasn't a trend or close to the next succession. Now there is only 8 years between the Bushes and possible 8 years between the Clintons. This is too soon and too often, it is almost an expectation, like when Bobby Kennedy and Ted Kennedy ran for the Democratic party's nomination. Yes, I would like a woman to run for president, but there should be other women to consider. After 2008, will we see another Bush run for president?

Do people ever think that if we get into the habit of choosing our presidents like this, that abuse of power isn't far behind, when candidates know, they only need the name? What of the opposition, you say. They have a candidate that had a father as governor, another type dynasty. In a few years all the successful candidates could be descendants of governors, senators and presidents. It becomes the family business and the other 300 million people will become inconsequential, because they know that their name is more important than their policies.

Maybe it would save one child.

There are some that think the right to bear arms is a natural right. I am not sure how one gets to that assessment, since man has had guns less than on percent of his existence. For others it is a sacrosanct amendment to the U.S. Constitution; one may repeal the 14th amendment but not the 2nd. There are quite a few of us who may not object to the right for someone to own a gun, but do not want them sold as casually as a pack of cigarettes. I think now there may be more restrictions on buying a pack of cigarettes. I think that at a bare minimum, that you should at least be able to prove you know the rules of safety and at least be able hit a target. I understand that you cannot ensure a person will be safe, use common sense, or have any accuracy, but it might get some to think that they bear responsibility when they purchase a gun.

Last year in my city, 22 children were killed and not all the teen agers were in "the life." There are some that would want you to believe that they all are, when they are justifying the 2nd Amendment; a very poor argument I would think. What stands out in this article is that one of the victims is 3 years old and shot himself.

Ty-Ty [Tylib Bailey-Hankerson] died looking down a gun barrel. He was laid to rest holding a lollipop. Police said that on Oct. 15, about 1 p.m., the child found a registered .45-caliber pistol and shot himself in the face. The gun and the Raymond Street rowhouse where it happened belonged to Dave Walter, boyfriend of Ty-Ty's mother, Lawanda Bailey, who lives across the street. Both adults and Ty's brother Dejour, 9, were in the house.

It happen again yesterday, a four year old killed himself with his father's gun. He had very easy access and again a parent was in the house. I read about this at the field negro this morning.

... Sadly, Mr. Boyd chose to play cards with his friends, while his four year old son, Dyshon, was left unattended. Mr. Boyd had a loaded 9 mm Glock in his coat pocket and casually hung it in an upstairs bedroom. Left unattended, little Dyshon found the gun, and, well, you can imagine what happened next. The poor kid shot himself in the throat and later died at Children's Hospital.

To add insult to injury, or I should say death. Mr. Boyd chose to throw the gun out the window and hide the magazine. (it's still missing) Fortunately the authorities found the gun and charged Mr. Boyd with involuntary manslaughter and some lessor charges.

In their grief, most in his family is saying what a good father Dyshon had. Since his father had been shot himself, I ask why would he had not known that a gun could cause great harm and be responsible enough to not want it around his child? Sometimes in life you only get one chance. The field negro sees this as the responsibility of the parents.

This is the kind of environment we are creating for our children. This is the world we are giving them to live in. I have said this before, but it's worth repeating: If people are going to be just sperm donors and not real parents, what's the point in having children in the first place?

I see it also as the responsibility of society. In last years shooting, the gun has been purchased properly and registered and this year's, the gun was probably purchased illegally; the outcome the same. With many taking sides with the 2nd Amendment issue, no one thinks it might help if gun safety ads were run in the media. The NRA talks about what it does, but that is only for its membership. When Charlton Heston made adds for the NRA, it was only to position the viewpoint on owning a gun. The other side is so anti-gun that they probably don't think of running safety ads, to push safety would be to say guns are OK. Meanwhile we have mega messages about smoking, lead paint and marijuana, in which the chances of any of them killing you at first encounter, is close to nil. The idea would be to peak the awareness. Some years back they ran TV ads before New Years, to remind people that it was not only illegal to fire guns in the air, but that the bullets had to come down. Previously some people had been inured by those New Years' stray bullets.

I think the fight over the 2nd Amendment will go on indefinitely. I find it interesting how some people just know how the Constitution, if written now, would word the 2nd Amendment. When the constitution was written, one had to load a gun, one bullet at a time. I don't think a 3 year old had the capability to load one. We can not wait for the fight to be over, but I think we can try some other approaches. I would hope that safety ads could save one child.

Some thoughts on Medicare

The last few years I have gotten a notice from Social Security, stating what I am eligible to receive. This year I could get minimum benefits, more at 66 years old and maximum at 70. The notice also stated that I am required to sign up for Medicare benefits at 65. The way it read, it seemed mandatory, although I am not sure.

While I was on dialysis, I had signed up for Medicare, because I wasn't sure my union health plan would cover completely the dialysis treatment without a copay. I could not afford to pay even $10.00 per treatment at that time. My cost for Medicare was quite a bit lower per month than the copay. After my kidney transplant, Medicare became my primary insurance and my coverage was not as complete as my employee plan. I wound up having to pay a deductible and other unexpected cost. My employee plan not taking up the difference from Medicare; having Medicare then, sucked. Fortunately for me it ended three years after my transplant.

With my retirement plan, I will be able to keep my employee health plan for five years after I retire. I don't want to sign up for Medicare until the health plan is over, because the coordination of benefits between my health plan and Medicare is certain to screw me. The prescription plan, Part D of Medicare, is certain to be more costly, because my prescriptions run about $10,000 a year. I have to buy supplemental insurance to fill the gap, between $2000 and $5000. I don't know if the prescription plan I have when I retire, would even work with Part D. Not any of this was explained in the booklet the government distributed.

What I don't get, is that I keep hearing there will be a crisis in Medicare, more so than Social Security in a few years when the first wave of Baby Boomers retire. If there is a crisis, why is it then mandatory that you sign up for Medicare, if not at 65, certainly when you sign up for Social Security? Having had experience with Medicare, I wish I were financially able to opt out completely. This is one reason I get a little edgy about a national health care plan. I don't think it would save me any more money and I can see congressmen that don't want it to work creating a compromise that will make it more complicated and and more costly which would eventually doom it to fail. Then there is also a mindset about the people who will benefit, it may be seen as welfare, in which it will be designed to keep one ill, rather than healthy: as the welfare system was designed to keep the poor, poor; because to really give them enough benefits to help them out of poverty, would do so without them deserving it.

There isn't a particular idea in the post. I was listening this morning about the economic outlook for this country and as always Medicare and Social Security came up. I had some thoughts about my own experience, I wanted to share. There is another question that I would like to ask the blogosphere, but unfortunately most of my traffic comes from folks who find my blog from two images, one of polycystic kidneys and the other showing women Iranian soldiers wearing a hijab. Anyway the question is: would those who are well off and bitch about Social Security and Medicare not being the government's responsibility, opt out? I was thinking if they did, would there be a crisis?

Mirror, mirror... who's the rightess

What do we demand of other people in their political beliefs, if we have identified with a particular one ourselves and never waiver? Do we demand coherence, purity, or for it to be identical to our own? If we demand this, why? I have been personally engaged in an argument, that has gotten too the point of figuratively punching low blows, because my opinion is different from the other person's interpretation of an event. Because of this, my beliefs are being lumped into one category and accusations are being made that are not true. It seems that I have to fit neatly into this box, to keep their vision of the world intact. I may be wrong, but is how it appears to me. It is disturbing to me, because I though that person knew me better. I can't say that I am fighting fair, either.

I came across an article by McQ, MURTHA: THE SURGE IS WORKING at QandO, sort of in the same vein. It had surprised the author, that Rep. Murtha had change his opinion about the surge in Iraq and said that "I think the 'surge' is working;" this after his visit to Iraq. McQ made this statement.

Although very late, welcome to the club, Congressman. Is that hell I see freezing over?

One should not think that a person is not capable of changing their mind, especially when they see an event firsthand. Hell doesn't have to freeze over. A few in the comments section want even more purity of this change of view, to other things they think he has to atone for. Is that necessary for them to believe him now?

I think for most of us, we are not pigeon holed in any fixed political policy. We may be right or left or something else, but sometime there are ideas or positions that don't have any labels or are common sense that all may agree. I never thought that it made anyone less of a person if their ideas weren't absolutely consistent. I don't always believe the person to be an enemy, even if I think their ideas could be destructive. It is the persons actions that I look at. I see too many Americans look at each other and consider them the enemy or traitors, strictly because the other does not believe as they do. I am not speaking of extreme beliefs; these persons have not been involved in an effort to overthrow the government, commit terrorist acts, or harm anyone. I don't know what to think, when I hear those who talk of liberty, hint that the opposition is not loyal to America.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - New York Gov. Eliot Spitzer on Wednesday dropped a plan to issue driver's licenses to illegal immigrants in his state because of overwhelming opposition to the proposal in an issue with repercussions in the U.S. presidential campaign.

Spitzer said he had come to believe that the proposal eventually would be blocked either by legal challenges or by the New York legislature.

He said he still believed his plan would be the best way to secure the roads in a state with an estimated 1 million illegal immigrants, many of whom drive without licenses or insurance.

When you live in a city where many people drive without licenses, illegal immigrants or not; you want the drivers license to mean that person has taken a drivers test and made some effort to learn the rules and drive. I could care less about illegal immigration, National ID, or terrorist, when I am on the road. I want that person, be they terrorist, illegal immigrant or not; to know what a stop sign is.

The Drum in our Song

I had said this in an off topic conversation at The Assault On Black Folk's Sanity within the comments of Who's Classified? in reference to losing African values in our culture.

This is not exactly a value, but an identity, the drum in our song. I am not religious, but the sounds of the work song, spiritual and early gospel, triggers a transcendental experience when I hear the music. Those sound are disappearing. That was like a memory of earth, Africa, going.

I supposed that it could be argued that what I hear had not disappeared or is not truly African, but I want to share this music. Here are two gospel songs and a spiritual as examples. I wish they were better recordings. The last one my father's glee club use to sing often in concert. Unfortunately my father badly tangled the tape of the Harry T. Homeless Veterans

Just browsing the news I saw this story and this stunning statistic,

One in four homeless people in the US is a military veteran, a report has found, even though veterans make up only 11% of the adult population.

Living as a veteran of the streets

Looking to find another report of this story, I found a CNN article, Study: Veterans more likely to be homeless, with the same statistic and more about the report.

On any given night last year, nearly 196,000 veterans slept on the street, in a shelter or in transitional housing, the study by the Homelessness Research Institute found.

"Veterans make up a disproportionate share of homeless people," the report said. "This is true despite the fact that veterans are better educated, more likely to be employed and have a lower poverty rate than the general population."

The president of the institute's parent group appealed Thursday to lawmakers and civilians to help solve veteran homelessness before thousands of U.S. service members return from Iraq and Afghanistan.

About 44,000 to 64,000 veterans are classified as "chronically homeless" -- homeless for long periods or repeatedly.

Other veterans -- nearly 468,000 -- are experiencing "severe housing cost burden," or paying more than half their income for housing, thereby putting them at a high risk for homelessness.

To reduce chronic homelessness among veterans by half, the report concluded housing coupled with supportive services should be increased by 25,000 units, and the number of housing vouchers for veterans should be increased by 20,000.

There is an program responsible for homeless veterans in the Department of Veteran Affairs, my hope that it will have more funding and the ability to do more out reach, especially for the mentally ill veteran. There are some veteran organizations that help too. I personally can not recommend any that one could could contribute to. I only became familiar with this issue when I read these articles a few days ago. I would only say that the next time you see a homeless person, don't be quick to assume why they are homeless, be they a veteran or not, but remember that many of these homeless have been responsible for our security and defense.

Ben Israel's homelessness ended because of a private organization helping, it is described in the first article, Living as a veteran of the streets.

He was in line at one more soup kitchen when he was approached by someone from Pathways to Housing.

It is a New York-based charity which, for 17 years, has helped the homeless who have psychiatric problems.

Important for Ben was that, as Pathway's mission statement makes clear, they do not require treatment or sobriety as a pre-condition of getting someone into an apartment.

Their philosophy is that the path to recovery starts with getting off the street and under a roof.

When we honor our veterans today we should not forget those who are homeless and if some would approach you for something, even if you don't know how to help, at least tell them that you appreciated their service.

Afrospear (November) Carnival

Each month the Afrospear: A Think Tank For People of African Descent presents a carnival which reflects on some aspect of the African Diaspora. Unlike many carnivals the topic changes each month. This month's topic is "Reparations: what is the value of what we’re owed?" This month I submitted this post A Dollar Owed. Check out the other submissions in the Afrospear November Carnival; I think you will find them interesting.

The Problem

Scientist want "the problem." Its what they look at and write there observations to determine how it works, the process or mechanism. This leads to a solution. The engineer looks at the solution and determines how it can be applied. For science and technology to progress there must be a problem. Someone has to have an interest. If our political sensibilities deny problems and create the climate where problems are denied and education doesn't stress solving problems, then when crisis strike our society we will not have any resources to rely on. There is no such thing as instant discovery or miracle in science.

Those who think that global warning doesn't exist or that humans don't contribute to it, would want to create a world where "the problem" is denied. No need for any solutions to be found. It is bad science; our science says do nothing. Fortunately because there are those that do see "the problem;" innovations in building houses, using solar energy, new fuels for automobiles, and building energy efficient industries are continuing. Whether global warming becomes dangerous or not, the benefit of solving "the problem" are enormous. At some point in the future, the need for such innovation will be seen; when we run out of fossil fuels or we will not have access, due to some world crisis.

I wrote this post, because this morning I saw an interesting segment on CBS Sunday Morning about a contest on Building a Better Solar-Powered Home. These houses are becoming more feasible to build and cost could be brought in line with today's market. One solution is already in place to solve one problem.

A Dollar Owed

First there has to be an acknowledgment that slavery is wrong; then there has to be a discussion about slavery effects on the slave and their survivors; and last there has to be an acknowledgment that slavery contributed this economy and that lost wages are owed to those who labored, for nothing, for another man's profit.

I am in agreement with the purpose of Rep. John Conyers' bill, HR 40, introduced to congress every year since 1989. Conyers describes the bill.

My bill does four things:

1. It acknowledges the fundamental injustice and inhumanity of slavery

2. It establishes a commission to study slavery, its subsequent racial and economic discrimination against freed slaves;

3. It studies the impact of those forces on today's living African Americans; and

4. The commission would then make recommendations to Congress on appropriate remedies to redress the harm inflicted on living African Americans.

The public has to understand the impact of slavery, as they understand the Holocaust. Once this has happened, reparations can be discussed. The problem now, is that there is a conscientious effort to marginalize slavery; thus the recent comments by Micheal Medved. The acceptance of Medved's view and Dr. James Watson's view by the right blogosphere whips up fierce opposition to any effort to say the slave was owed anything or that efforts to raise up all black people is justice.

I do not see reparations as back payment. I think that "remedies to redress the harm inflicted on living African Americans" could include a varity of effort, not only money but action. I would want our institutions and communities to benefit from reparations funds. I also want the FEDs to educate businesses on what EOE really means, follow up on the discrimnation claims and sue, and put teeth into the Civil Rights Commission; otherwise, enforce the law. There is one other aspect of understanding slavery and being able to empathize that I would hope for. If it would bring the country to recognize the need for reparations; then respect could come in the process. For me, "r-e-s-p-e-c-t" is most important.

When our country values all of its people and give us our due, I would say that a dollar owed, is a dollar saved.

More Diversion

15 pounds of Uranium is the size of a soda can. That is what it might take to produce a small nuclear bomb. The Iranians have had Russian nuclear scientist assisting them for some time and it seems like their Uranium enrichment has gone on for at least two years. My theory is that the Iranians have the bomb, maybe several, and that the Iranian president is jerking our chain. To say that the International Atomic Energy Agency has monitored Iran and have found Iran has not made enough progress to make a bomb, then how come they could not stop India and Pakistan. The hard work and research was done by the Manhattan Project; no nation has to reinvent that wheel. The Manhattan Project produced three bombs after a two and a half years of concentrated effort.

Another diversion from the administration. It is in our national interest for Iran and some other countries not to have a bomb. That has always been the case. What bothers me is that this administration relates its importance to terrorism. The article I linked to, earlier in this post describes how easily it was to smuggle enriched Uranium.

In 2002 the network [ABC] shipped the depleted uranium cylinder, which is about the size of a soda can, by ocean freight from Istanbul to New York. In 2003, the network shipped it in a teak trunk from Jakarta to Long Beach, a port near Los Angeles.

In 2002 U.S. Customs inspected the shipping container at Staten Island in New York and failed to detect the uranium. In 2003, U.S. Customs inspected the container at Long Beach and again failed to detect it.

"The fact that ABC News was able to smuggle in what could have been weapon-grade uranium a second time speaks volumes about the failure of the Bush administration to secure nuclear weapon materials," said Tom Cochran, the physicist who heads NRDC's Nuclear Program. "We must eliminate the commercial use of weapon-usable uranium and reduce the inventories of highly enriched uranium used for weapons. U.S. Customs simply cannot stop it from being smuggled into the country."

I wonder how easily it would be to bribe someone to provide you with as soda cans worth of enriched Uranium, or for the real thing in places where the Soviets had weapons that are no longer under the control of Russia and are perhaps forgotten. Remember Bin Laden was rich. Did we get all of his assets? If Iran wanted the terrorist to have the bomb, couldn't they just buy a bomb. They could even give the terrorist enriched Uranium for a dirty bomb. Accounting of fissionable material is not precise.

The risk of theft or diversion is particularly strong in Russia. The breakup of the Soviet Union has left weapons containing fissionable materials in the hands of four states: Russia, Kazakhstan, Belarus, and Ukraine. Although commitments to consolidate these weapons into Russia were agreed upon in the Lisbon protocol in 1992, at this writing it is not certain when--or even whether--this move will actually be completed. Ukraine in particular is creating difficulties. Nor do we have reliable information about how security will be imposed after nuclear warheads arrive in Russia or where they will be dismantled and the fissionable material stored.

Even though this article is thirteen years old, not too much has been done to correct this.

If they think that Iran made be gearing up to bomb Israel, what about Syria? Pictures in the news today about a nuclear facility in Syria, bombed by Israel.

New commercial satellite images show a suspected Syrian nuclear reactor site has been wiped clean since it was bombed Sept. 6 by Israeli aircraft.

Analysts say the cleanup will hinder a proposed investigation by international nuclear inspectors and suggests Syria is trying to conceal evidence.

Are there more facilities in Syria? Why is this administration not obsessed about this? I do wish the citizenry would want more scrutiny of our president motives instead of engaging in a demonizing war between the political parties. His diversions could eventually be fatal to us all.

My question? To what purpose? Does he not think we will not notice the progress in Iraq? That we will not count the dead? We will not question, who's in charge in the Iraqi government? Or does he think this will be his legacy; to get one government to cower? January 20, 2009 can not come too soon.

Race and Real Science?

Today I read a CNN.com article of yet another scientist, Dr. James Watson, a Nobel Prize Laureate, had pronounced that the African is less intelligent that other races.

In the newspaper interview, he said there was no reason to think that races which had grown up in separate geographical locations should have evolved identically. He went on to say that although he hoped everyone was equal, "people who have to deal with black employees find this not true".

Not even his observation; hearsay, which is not even close to a scientific inquiry. Is this trend going to fuel even more bigotry.

Watson is not the first scientist to show sympathy for the theory of a racial basis for intellectual difference. In March of last year Dr. Frank Ellis from Leeds University provoked anger in Britain after he admitted he found evidence that racial groups perform differently "extremely convincing."

The author of this article must have forgotten William Shockley, another Nobel Laureate, whose passion became eugenics and the precursor argument of "The Bell Curve."

Reputation vs. Life

GREENSBORO, N.C. (AP) — Three former Duke lacrosse players falsely accused of rape filed a federal lawsuit Friday against disgraced prosecutor Mike Nifong, the city of Durham and the police detectives who handled the investigation.

The lawsuit calls the criminal case against Reade Seligmann, Collin Finnerty and Dave Evans was "one of the most chilling episodes of premeditated police, prosecutorial and scientific misconduct in modern American history."

Delma Banks, Jr., has been on Texas' death row for 24 years. He has been scheduled for execution fifteen different times. Most recently, he was strapped on a gurney awaiting the lethal injection that Texas uses to kill people. But the U.S. Supreme Court, with ten minutes to spare, stayed his execution.

If the Supreme Court's oral argument -- held this week, on December 8 -- is any indication, Banks is likely to win his case: His death sentence will be reversed. The Court may order that Banks receive a new trial. Or it may simply release him because of the appalling government misconduct that tainted his case.

Isn't life more significant that reputation.

Musings From a Morris Chair

I was looking at listening to Jose Marie Blumenschein's graduating recitial, in which he plays Dimitri Shostakovich's Violin Sonata, Opus 134. On the broadcast program, an interview is inserted before he plays the sonata. Blumenschein decribes the three movements and relates them to Shostakovich's life; this sonata was written late in his life. To loosely paraphrase, Blumenschein sees the first movement a response to Shostakovich's hard and anguished life, the second as more upbeat and the third as resignation of the life lived. As Blumenschein played the sonata, I hear the phrases typical of Shostakovich, I begin to think that as hard as his life had been, as an artist in Soviet Russia, in a time where art could be mistaken for wrong political thought; he had made music. The music of genius and surely that at some point it had brought happiness to him or a sense of satisfaction for however the moment was long.

I am sitting while listening staring at the back of my dining room with a little light coming from the kitchen. I don't feel real, the scene is surreal. I am comfortable, but I am in slight pain. It seems that way more, now growing old. I have not lived my life in fear or terror, but I feel that my life has been hard. I have no satisfaction from accomplishment. This is something I have wanted. I have had fleeting moments of happiness that I can't recall the emotion. The roller coaster of emotions from my family, even my son, causes me anxiety. The anxiety causes a void. I am sitting listening, not angry nor am I particularly sad, but I'm tired. Tired of wanting and struggling; wishing that there had been something I had really been good at that gave me a sense of completion, like composing or playing a sonata.

MAKES ME WANT TO HOLLER!

Slavery lasted longer than the colonist would tolerate the Government of King George and revolted, yet we have an apologist for slavery in America, Micheal Medved. Read his Townhall column. I have to thank the field negro for keeping us informed. Item is in his sidebar so its not linkable.

As a person whose ancestors were slaves; I say even if it this was the practice of millennia does not make it morally right. To deny liberty of a human and to own their person, it is wrong. It is not dependent on how the slave was treated, the amount of movement allowed, the price of a slave or the intent of the master.

I am not moved by the fact that if I was still African that my life would be in chaos. I do not think slavery has brought the black out of darkness in America and I have expressed this before here and here.

Fear is in the Head of the Beholder

Six years ago, a few days after the 11^th, many coworkers were discussing the fear. I said, “I am not any more fearful now than before.” One person got angry with me that I had not reacted the same as they did. I explained that I was always in a state of anxiety, when my son was out, because I never knew if he would be in a situation that could get him killed or injured. For the past few years this city has been one of the cities having a high murder rate. Much of it random, that is, without any premeditation; with many bystanders and too, too many children, being the victims. A post, 911 Six Years Later by Jonathan Adams at Racewire brought this to mind.

On that terrible day, I felt anger and like I was living in a surreal world. I felt grief as if I were part of all the families. I did not feel fear.

I don’t watch the reruns of the destruction or look at pictures. I don’t need to dwell on the images. I have in my life time seen other horrors, most not on the scale of 911. I had heard of and seen the images of the Holocaust. Others were not visually seen, but told of or read about, in the news. Learning one’s own history gives one a stoic response to violence.

The gangs that terrorize neighborhoods are not thought of when debating border security with Mexico. No thought in the national mind what these people go though day to day, just what if one Al Qaeda gets though? There are gang members that are recruited and brought in from Mexico. Their methods of enforcement of their activities in the neighborhoods are as violent as or worst than the Islamist.

Fear is now in all communities. Now their response is irrational. So new is the fear, that a war just anywhere, bringing freedom to anyone is sufficient, because “They hate our freedoms…” A slam dunk, that’ll ease the fear and as a side effect the US will have brought freedom and democracy to the Islamic world, stabilized the Middle East and enshrined the name of George W. Bush.

What I consider to be the first terrorist act in my memory was the bombing of the 16^th Street Baptist Church. Actually, it was not the first, but one that stood out in national infamy. Terrorism is not new on this soil and for the slave, the native and then the free black; it has been a way of life. There was no justice then, and the 911 victims have not seen justice either. I have written of this before. The War in Iraq is not Justice.
